1st Common Mistake Burial Insurance Buyers Make

Wait to Buy So you can take time to Improve your health
So what sometimes happens, is there may be a burial insurance agent who discusses the cost prematurely. now, the reason why I say prematurely is not because we don’t want to tell or have the prospect know exactly what they’re going to be paying. But how can you in good conscience share a price with somebody without really understanding there health and lifestyle profile. (every so often I’ll have somebody approached me on the phone or in person and say I just want to know what it’s going to cost me. I don’t want to take too much, just want to know what it’s going to cost me. Can I tell them we just don’t work that way. They can find other people who take that approach. We feel that that’s it responsible and just not honest. And the reason for that is that it does take a few minutes to understand the individual’s personal situation so that you could direct them and to the appropriate burial insurance program. Incidentally. It is not uncommon for us to be able to determine someone’s needs, review the burial insurance options, and complete the application within 20 minutes)
in this situation when somebody is quoted a number that they are providing without truly understanding the buyers situation, once the dust settles or the review or underwriting takes place one learns that they have different options and sometimes even have to pay more. And the reason is simple if you were talking to somebody and you thought somebody was 50 years old with a clean bill of health that person is going to get one price whereas if the individual was 65 years old and have and has a complicated medic that individuals going to pay more so whatever more means no one wants to pay more than they have to. So for example if you heard the number $40 a month and now you hear the number $60 a month you bet your bottom dollar that everybody would rather pay for you than 60. so a number of things happen in this situation the person who’s on the buying end May learn that they are on the line when it comes to height and weight you know if you just lost another 10 lb come or if you just got your diet more under control the diabetes would not be such a factor. And the feeling that the individual gets is well what if I take this seriously what if I lose some weight What if I go on a serious diet What if I get this under control when I then be eligible for that $40 price that you quoted me. and the insurance agent will agree. And then people have this immediate drive to solve their issue and they’ll think okay so let me get on that for the next 6 months and then let me Circle back with you and get this insurance then.
This thinking is flawed anyway because the insurance companies want to see even if your situation improves that it improves for more than a short. Of time, but regardless what the agent needs to explain and educate the buyer on is okay why don’t you do this get the plan now so that your family is secure and you have something in place. Because we eating another 6 months to a year is just going to make you a year older, and prone to more Medical challenges, and if you do go down and wait we have a little bit of wiggle room depending on the insurance company to adjust and approach the underwriters with this health improvement nearby changing the premium.
Remember, the insurance companies want you to being a better health and medical profile, hey because they care about you the individual altruistically, and be because if your health is improved there portfolio with your policy will have more value it will improve as well.
although some people may be inclined to wait. Best practice for most situations is not to wake get the policy that you’re eligible to get now, Circle back within 6 months to demonstrate a change and then some insurance companies will say okay we’re willing to give you this change if you show us in the next 6 months at the situation changed again.
Bottom line. Don’t wait if you’re looking at a good plan that may be a little more expensive. Get it now and figure it out how to improve your health afterwards.
